Civil Aircraft Thrust Reverser Cascade Configuration and Airplane Integration Evaluation Through CFD

  • Reverse thrust device could significantly reduce the landing distance of civil turbofan airplane. It also influences the stability and control characteristics as well as inlet flow field. Flight safety might be concerned if the reverse thrust device was not well designed in accordance with airplane. Numerical simulation was conducted in this paper on thrust reverser cascade device of civil transport airplane′s landing configuration with rear mounted engine layout. Meanwhile, the integration of reverse device and airplane was estimated. Results demonstrate that the Mach 0.09 could be the cut-off velocity for safe usage of thrust reverser cascade configuration.
