Abstract
In order to meet the requirement for research of high temperature burnt gas flow, the present paper proposes a new experimental device-detonation tunnel. The basic principle of the tunnel is to use high-pressure gas to drive the high-temperature gas after the detonation wave, providing the moving boundary conditions for eliminating the Taylor wave, so as to keep the flow after the detonation wave in a uniform and constant required state. In structural arrangements, the detonation tunnel is similar to the shock tunnel, thus it is easy to realize the operation mode of the detonation tunnel by use of the shock tunnel, but there are obvious differences between them for the flow processes and the relationships of characteristic parameters. The flow processes are analyzed and the relations between characteristic parameters are given at first, then based on them, verification experiments are carried out. The theoretical and experimental results show that the device is not only capable of generating high temperature burnt gas of various types and different states, but also achieve accurate control of the gas state. The experimental capabilities and application potential of the device can be expanded further.
